Canvas Pop

I just love days when I stumble across a cool find on the internet. I swear most days I feel like I've reached the end of the internet and there is nothing else cool to see. Well today I came across Canvas Pop!

Canvas Pop is a cool service where you can upload a personal image and they place it on a giclee canvas for you to enjoy! Canvas art has become really popular over the past few years, so wouldn't it be better to have an image of your own on your all? Not some big box image everyone else might have?

Here are a few samples from their ideas gallery!

I have so many ideas now!! My inspiration has come back! I am definitely drawn to the three panel option. What images and panels would you use?

Gardening.

One thing that really excites me every year is setting up my plants. I can't really call it gardening on my end since I've always lived in an apartment situation...so I'll just say setting up plants!

Today I came across the store profile on Apartment Therapy for Succulence! For a few years now I've seen the concept of wall-succulent planting and I love it. This is exactly what I want to do when I have a yard or even just a fenced in patio. The only problem is...anytime I've tried to maintain succulents I've killed them. I am great with herbs, ferns, flowers....but not these gems. I think know I over water them but am not quite sure if that is all I'm doing wrong. Anyone have tips or thoughts?

Enjoy these pics and the article on Succulence!

Old cat New tricks

Just had to post a few photos of one of my kids newest stunts/tricks.

She also got some kitty grass today...yumm!

I want. I NEED!

Just look at the fun bedding Ikea has to offer right now! I need one of these in my life - or maybe two choices would be better ;) About a month ago, one of our cats gagged up a hairball (gross I know...) on the bedspread and ruined it big time. I've waited long enough. Out of these choices, which is your favorite?

So many choices I can't possibly decide!!! I'm sort of in to the large graphics right now but this last picture is just so pretty.  These also make me excited to set up our new house in Tucson!
All images found on Ikea's website!

I wish I was wearing this today. A bright spring dress, scarf and cardi in case it gets chilly and a new purse (of course!) All lovely items (and images) from Anthropologie.

Day Trip!

Today hubby and I decided to take a day trip to Mt. Saint Helens. You can see the volcano from our street and can get a great view from our rooftop, but we've never made the drive to actually see the mountain up close! Since the weather was kind today we decided to make the drive!

Before reaching the farthest lookout we could get to (without doing an actual mountain climb!) we stopped to take some pretty nature pictures on a trail.

After a minute of trying to find a four leaf clover, we headed up to one of the next lookouts to snap a few pictures. Pictures do not do Helens justice. It is massively big, beautiful and snowy!

We dove a bit longer and stopped to take a look around a few more lookouts. Then we finally made it in to the "blast zone." From our apartment you see the font side of Helens but from today's angle you see exactly where the blast happened. It pretty much took away the whole back half of the volcano.

We were really close and it was beautiful! Again, pictures do not do anything justice. We were so close and Helens was so big! After a few more pictures we headed back down to stop at a Bigfoot shop we'd seen earlier.

We picked up a few funny shirts for gifts and were on our way home! A nice day trip for anyone living in the Pacific NW!

Today we are taking a little day trip to Mt. Saint Helens! We've finally had a few beautiful and warm days here in the Pacific NW, so we are taking fool advantage of a day off with nice weather. Hope you are all having a great weekend so far! I will post more pictures later with information about Mt. Saint Helens National Park.

hobbies.

I have, technically, played the flute for almost 18 years! Music was a huge part of my life from 6th grade until I graduated college. I was a drum-major in high school, had lots of auditions and was a flute performance minor in college.

I found myself thinking the other day "why haven't I played my flute regularly in years?" I can't believe I let one of the most important and natural talents I have fall to the wayside.  So this weekend I decided to pick up my flute and start practicing again, regularly, and not let my music slip away! Having something you are good at and can be proud of is a part of life everyone should experience! What is an old hobby or talent you have that you want to revive?

blog of the month!

Hey ya'll - I've decided to do a little "feature" each month of a blog I think you all should check out! I will do a little post about my pick for blog of the month summing up what their blog is about, etc. I will also place their button in the left hand column so you can easily go back and check out their blog again and again!

For my first blog of the month, I have chosen Decor8! I decided to check out Decor8 after many of the other blogs I read kept going on and on about how great it was - and they were right! I was blown away by the first article I read - Brass Razoo Shop Tour. The picture below (taken from Decor8) will give you a glimpse of the beauty found in the daily posts!

Along with inspiring DIY posts, blog features and decorating tips, Decor8 offers online classes about blogging. Check out Decor8 today and get inspired!

simple sewing

For the past few days Simple Sewing by Lotta Jansdotter has been my inspiration for gifts and housewares!

So far, I've made the Cafe Aprons (one style pictured below) and plan to make some simple tea towels and pot holders! This is a great book for first time sew-ers as well as those advanced seamstresses. Check out Lotta's site for products and more!
