Seattle Love.

Seattle is that one city for me that has it all. Beautiful city views, nature, great food and great shopping. Seattle is that one city that has never disappointed me and continues to fill me with glee just at the site of the Space Needle. This weekend I spent a few days in Seattle (well the whole South Sound area, including Olympia) and wanted to break down some of "Jessica's Best of Seattle" sites, shopping, food and tips.

When staying in Seattle, picking out the right hotel in the right area can really benefit your stay. We have always stayed in the South Lake Union area and it has always worked to our advantage. Most hotels in the area have shuttles that run day and night to tourist areas like the Pike Place Market, Capitol Hill, Seattle City Center and more.  Believe me, you don't want to drive around downtown Seattle without a plan in mind. You will waste precious shopping and picture taking time by looking for a parking spot that you have to be a pro-parker to even attempt.  This last trip we stayed at the Marriott Residence Inn and look at the view from our room!

Just off the left side of this photo above lies the Space Needle. What a spectacular view at night! Another hotel close by, the Silver Cloud Inn, is also a great choice with beautiful views.

While exploring Seattle, be sure to bring good walking shoes (or if you are my friends Colin and Sandra, bring yer bike!) because anything you want to do can be done on foot. Just north of Lake Union lies the eclectic Freemont neighborhood.  With fun shops like Jive Records and the Vintage Mall, you can spend a whole afternoon exploring and enjoying. Be sure to stop by and take a picture by the Lenin statue and the Freemont Troll!

Right outside of the Freemont area, you will find Gasworks Park. This place was amazing! The city of Seattle really has turned this area into a gem. Huge, hilly fields allow you to run, play frisbee or tight rope walk between the structures! Dogs are allowed, as are bikes, skateboards and skates. This really is such a beautiful park to relax in and the views of Seattle can't be beat.

More to come on food and fun later today!
